Filming at the Brunel Goods Shed
Today the head of the Association of Preservation Trust visited Stroud to record some interviews with members of Stroud Preservation Trust. I agreed to attend to take a few pictures for our ongoing archive when they filmed at the Brunel Goods Shed. I gather they intend to share experiences of many different trusts throughout the United Kingdom and will produce a variety of short videos that will be made available online.
The Goods Shed was still very busy when we arrived at 3pm because Stroud College fashion department students were rehearsing for their public catwalk show as part of their end of term show. The interior had been transformed with white drapes hanging down to cover the bare Cotswold stone walls, with a catwalk and a formal backstage area for the costume changes. I was sorry to have missed it.
Jeremy and Gary then interviewed the head of Stroud Valley Artspace, who have leased the building from our Trust, a local artist who has used the shed as a gallery and then Camilla and Anne who are two key fellow trustees. I was surprised that I was then asked to be interviewed about building up the photographic record of the transformation of the building and how it might be something other trusts could do.
I took a few pictures today, but am not too happy with the results. The building is blacked out and there were only a couple of background work lights so I had to bump up the ISO. Here Jeremy and Gary are talking to Corinne about using the building as a gallery for her artwork.
I might try to get permission to take some photos at the Fashion show tomorrow evening. We are so pleased that this building has been transformed from a near ruin into a thriving venue for local artistic activity.
