the 'for free' culture in my town.

I don't know how it is at yours but here you see every often boxes in the streets downtown with a sign 'please take what you want', sometimes filled with clutter, sometimes with pretty and useful things. Or even furniture. It's amazing what's going to be thrown away anyway.

Anyhow, no time to investigate the books...
