Goodbye

I am back blipping this one from our trip to Montezuma Monday. It's a marsh wren, one of my favorite birds. Today we mostly spent driving : the rest of the way to a college friend's funeral and back. It was difficult. She was one of the smartest people I knew and a really great dry sense of humor. Last summer was the first time we had gotten together in many years as children , busy medical practices and distance got in the way. 
We did keep up Christmas cards and then facebook occasionally 
(as I am not keen on the site) , but that was how I found out that she had cancer and that it was stage 4. Sadly the amazing initial response to her meds failed this year and she failed very quickly. Goodbye to a woman who never gave up , helped others in their struggles along the way , was an amazing person all around.
