Give me til tomorrow and then I’ll be okay
I'm slightly perturbed today.
This weekend is the Allotment society Show, for the first time in three years.
All the committee were winding everyone up and getting everyone to join in and announce what they would be showing on the day. They have categories for home baking and jams, and flowers as well as trugs, and vegetable categories.
I was all fired up and excited to take park. I was saving my best veg, and bought up stacks of butter and flour for my baking efforts.
Then an email came out on Tuesday and said, "Those intending to bring home baking, please ensure that everything is Free from Nut Contamination".
I looked at it and thought, how can I in all honesty do that? I have Cashews, Pistachios in my Baking box, I have Peanut Butter in the cupboard. I don't read fanatically the labels on boxes to ensure that nut juice isn't included. Feck it I thought, I can't be safe, so I just wont.
So I emailed the committee and said "I'm sorry but I won't be showing anything now, nor providing home baking. I bake for the office and no one has complained that i haven't notified them of allergens, or ingredients. If someone has an allergy surely a sign saying "May contain nuts" would suffice."
I got a message this morning, saying "Yeah, we over reacted, to one members request please reconsider cooking".
But I can't. In all honesty I can't. What If someone does die from my cooking?
The woke mob have gotten me.
