Not the usual welcome home

I was not surprised when I turned the car into the driveway, and was immediately facing a tidy pile of poles. S had called me on my mobile as I was nearing home, and warned me. The poles are to be used in the new retaining wall, and as foundations for an upgraded deck outside the back door.

The poles are big but there is room to walk past. The bigger difficulty in being in the house while all this is happening is the wet clay. Wet because of regular rain showers.

I parked on the road and took my boots off and got in the house this way.
