Life Is An Open Gate

A few months ago, the gate here disappeared.. broken, stolen, who knows. Arlo has been learning door manners for a long time and is expected to sit when he comes to a door/gate until we go through, so the missing gate meant he just ran through here,

 A few weeks ago a new gate appeared and Arlo began sitting again, until one day it dawned on him he can just jump through it, easy peasy. Today it was painted green. I really don't see the point in thei gate, what does it stop, I mean I am sure even I could get through it, although it wouldn't be pretty!
