Oregano and a persistent butterfly
Oregano has spread itself around in our garden and we let it grow as long as we don't need the space. It is both useful to, and loved by, butterflies, bees, and a lot of other insects.
This silver-washed fritillary was certainly enjoying itself feeding on the oregano in this corner of our garden. It was made a little nervous by my phone camera moving in close for a photo and flitted away, but it just circled around and landed nearby. It seemed determined not to leave this wonderful source of food. This all took place in a rather brief period of sunshine after a few days of rain so maybe the fritillary was just hungry. It was certainly persistent!
