Magnet… and a whistle story.

In the morning I sorted through some garage stuff for an hour. A magnet is invaluable when sorting through metal goods.

Younger son came for lunch. We heard of yesterdays pre-season rugby game in the Borders. And he told us about someone who’d been there; a man who is en route, mainly cycling, from the last Rugby World Cup in Japan in 2019 to France, for RWC2023 in September. And with him is the commemorative whistle which will be used as the official referee’s whistle in the opening game! His route has taken him and a colleague through South America, North America, Iceland and various places in U.K. including yesterday’s Rugby Club, (he was scheduled to drop into Murrayfield Stadium today). He previously took the official whistle from London RWC2015 to the 2019 Japan event. And another from Japan RWC2019 to the Ladies RWC2022 in New Zealand last October! Jings. He’s raising money for charity.

We watched A Man Called Otto in the evening. A beautiful film, on Sky Cinema.
