...Or a.., no, it looks like a..

...Well, whatever it is, with lovely maroon colored feathers on its back we haven't seen one lately, if at all..

... Prior to taking this shot - the battery on the camera went flat as I'd been snapping away at so many pelicans, and other wildlife, and so - back home to recharge the camera - and when we returned half an our later - this bird was still in the same place surveying the area and all the pelicans and other wildlife around it... No it wasn't stuck in the mud, although the thought crossed my mind...

...Its mate was in another place closer to the pelicans and hadn't moved either, and so I thought this one can be today's blip, whatever it is...there were no others in sight - but many other smaller birds we've never seen before. The fish etc., were at a premium today and the pelicans were very happy..
