One of many "wow" moments
last year I ran the 23+ miles of the Great Wilderness Challenge on a hot, windless day. This year I walked it on a showery warm day with a bit of breeze and lots of midges.
The route goes up, then down, fords 2 rivers (one in extras), goes up & up, past the most remote from road point in UK, then down and along and down. At the end of the remote section mountains start revealing them selves (main and extra) and then the lochs (a shower at the time), extra.
It was a different sort of effort to running, especially the last 5-6miles which, although walking fast, still seemed endless.
Back to our B&B, shower and then out for a meal, unfortunately more than I could eat, I always find it hard after a tough day.
