Music in the Landscape

Many thanks for the stars and comments on yesterday's garden find. Today's blip feels a bit like history repeating itself. A week ago on 4th August I photographed the same scene from a different angle. The weather then was very similar, and hasn't changed much during the whole week! The tops of the tors on Dartmoor are sometimes obscured by the low cloud, but here you can see the top of Pew Tor (right) and Cox Tor (left). Many great works of classical music have been inspired by landscapes, and in the same way a view of a landscape can evoke a piece of music. Listening to the Proms concerts on the BBC iPlayer I enjoy imagining what might have inspired the composer, and the scenes that the music evokes. Last night I listened to a truly stunning and memorable rendition of Vivaldi's Four seasons. This is what the BBC said about it:  "Electrifying violinist and conductor Pekka Kuusisto rips up the rule book to play Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons like you’ve never heard it before. He is joined by innovative folk musician Ale Carr, and the Scandinavian duo reimagine Vivaldi’s timeless concertos as a magical world of folklore".
