Bentley Haye . . . .

Took a walk along the Wyrley & Essington canal to Bentley Haye this afternoon - this Local nature reserve is situated on the opposite bank of the canal to Rough Wood, and is a former Landfill site. Much has changed here, and the grassy, wooded oasis that lies here today belies the industrial past of the area.
This pool is the only permanent pool to be found on Bentley Haye, and is rumoured to be a flooded airshaft or mineshaft for the local mines that littered the area in the 19th Century.
