Viceroy season

This beautiful Viceroy butterfly was just one of the beautiful creatures at the spit today. Family groups of goldfinch, warbling vireo, and eastern kingbirds skulked and talked to each other. Other birds gathered at fruiting trees and bushes, getting fat as they make their way south.
