Stunt
Squirrel stunt ramp.
Went out in the afternoon for a slow walk round Corstorphine Hill Cemetery & then an even slower walk home from the shops.
A really stuffy day not pleasant for walking.
Just about to leave the cemetery & first time I have ever seen a sparrowhawk take a young magpie. Clean low carry to hedge to hold & strip feathers but was mobbed by noisy magpies & jackdaws it eventually gave up flew away chased by a magpie. The young one must have been hurt as all the birds were still squawky.
It may well comeback later looking for the injured one. If it doesn't get it the fox will.
I know a female sparrowhawk can take & have seen one with a wood pigeon, but was surprised with the magpie as the others will mob.
They are so quick when they come into the garden for baby blackbirds, starlings or pigeons.
