From the Lang Stairs
I sometimes feel a little guilty passing by the line of tourists queuing up to pay their £16 to get into the castle, only to spend a few moments wandering round to take a photo and then leave again. But I guess these are the advantages of HS membership and in having this brilliant location full of potential on your doorstep. It's not the first time I've done it and it won't be the last I'm sure. I turned and went up the Lang Stairs as soon as I got through the gates today just as this photographer started shooting out towards the city from the battlements. Another wee play with snapseed tonight.
You always know festival time is just around the corner when the esplanade begins to look more like a building site as the cranes come it to begin erecting the Tattoo seating. It's been a couple of weeks since they started and the amphitheatre is beginning to take shape now. Talking of festivals, although it's become a bit of a side show this year, I took a look at the film festival programme today. It's been out for a week already and I'd have normally been all booked up by now, but things have been a little more laid back this year. Still managing to fit in 11 films over the fortnight though. All booked up.
Holiday Update
Well, some tough decisions ahead. I packed up my photographic equipment into the bag and I'm 1.5kg over my carry on allowance. What a bummer! Need to think about what I can put in checked luggage and what needs to be left behind. I'll maybe have to hang my camera around my neck or slip a lens into my coat pocket while my baggage is weighed! ;-)
56 sleeps!
