New grass and the old
Our silage was done in a day. The cuts were on the light side but the quality good and the team of contractors rushed over the acres with their forager and trailers.
Here is the silage clamp with this year's and what we have left of last year's. The grass turns colour as it ferments under the plastic sheeting weighed down with old tyres. The JCB is driving backwards and forwards pressing the new grass down as tight as possible before it is covered up. Good animal feed in the winter when the cattle are in the yards.
