Girl in Black

Prayer walking into town day...  cigano children playing in the street, notice the table and chairs under the tree.

Nowhere in town was open and cool enough to have our breakfast, so ended up with Mike getting the car, and driving to Évora, where we watched Barbie, did a grocery shop, and ate a Brazilian lunch in air conditioned comfort.

Enjoyed the film - would say it's main message isn't about gender issues per se, but about accepting that being human is messy (but wonderful), and trying to control it with feminism or patriarchy, or whatever other system, just cuts you off from all the joy of really living.

Gratefuls:
- Julia, Tom, and Eden surviving Julia's first night shift back at work (though she cried for about two hours at one point)
- getting to go to the cinema (which I love)
- no fires near us so far, and may it stay that way! Air hazy with smoke, though
