Tenbury Wells

We were considering a few days away at Wells, Somerset but there was no room at the Inn, the Premier Inn that is.  So we decided on a day visit to the Wells in Shropshire,  Tenbury Wells. This, of course, is much closer.

Tenbury is a  historic, small town, very pleasant,  the good weather helped.  There are lots of eateries and coffee shops along the main street as well as some old and interesting pubs and buildings including an Art Deco cinema, The Regal, still showing films.

The Pump Rooms is a unique building built in Victorian times and is described as Chinese Gothic.  I've copied this from the council web site:

Tucked away at the end of Teme Street, (just behind the Crow Hotel and adjacent to the car park by the Burgage), the Pump Rooms is a distinctive and unusual part of the history of Tenbury Wells. Built in 1862 to promote the town as a spa for the working classes, the building is now Grade II* Listed and totally unique.
Tenbury Town Council own and manage the Pump Rooms. The Town Clerk’s office is located at the Pump Rooms and Council Meetings are held in the main Assembly Room.

The Pump Rooms is also available for hire and is a registered venue for civil ceremonies.

I think there was a wedding happening whilst we were there, I'm sure they won't mind being included in the picture.

On the way home we stopped off at Top Barn for a coffee.
