Spain 2023, Day 16, Museo Würth La Rioja and home

Our last morning and with a super late flight we decided to go and visit the
Würth gallery in the morning. A very lovely space with some interesting art, for me I found some of the more industrial bits of the factory next door more interesting to photograph.

After this we headed back to Logrono for lunch. The forecast was for extreme thunderstorms and sure enough as we finished our lunch the skies were darkening and there was ominous thunder all around. As we had a few hours to drive to the airport I decided it might be wise to set off a bit earlier. Just as we got back to the car the rain started. We headed of and by the time we got to the motorway it was hideous, not just the torrential rain and the zero visibility but the hail, I have never  heard anything like it. In the end a lot of cars including ourselves hid underneath a bridge on the motorway and all the traffic came to a halt anyway. Then 2 minutes later it stopped and we were back in 30 degree heat wading through 3 or 4 inches of ice. I had imagined the car would look like a battered tin can and that our 1000 Euro deposit would be toast and then there would be all the hassle of the insurance but there was not a mark on the car and it was incredibly clean.

After handing it over the flight left about 11pm and we had one last ridiculous moment when we landed.

The bags were put on a carousel behind a closed door and Border forces decided that no-one could open it as it was a UK only belt and not an international one so we had to wait for 45 minutes whilst it was collected and put on the correct belt, all this at 1am, as you can imagine the utter stupidity of the situation didn't go unspoken.
