Jimminy
Jimminy Cricket was keeping very still first thing this morning, but eventually he moved into a little patch of light and I was able to get this shot of him with nearly all of his antennae in sight. He's a speckled bush cricket in case you were wondering.
While I was busy trying to get Jimminy's portrait, I nearly missed this morning's emergence of another common darter (the extra). It hadn't climbed very far out of the water so it was quite hard to get a clear picture of it until it opened its wings and climbed up a little higher on its leaf. But as you can see it is absolutely pristine at this stage.
