Tonight’s relaxing activity!

Last nights relaxing activity was mending the boiler which stopped working unexpectedly

Tonight’s activity is trying to mend my keys so I can get my car to open using the key fob! I can use the key to open it but sometime that makes the alarm go off and I can’t easily stop it. There are major issues with the rubber on the Hyundai key fobs deteriorating. I’ve already fixed it once and my sellotaped efforts has lasted a couple of years but I think the rubber has now perished (see those tiny black bits. That’s the button). The final straw came after someone else used my keys recently during a service.

Using only the items you see before you the repair will begin soon. My idea was to use cork but after reading various methods of repair online I shall try this first.

The tortoise is a charity shop rubber/ eraser and I’m hoping I don’t have to force him to sacrifice a foot. New fob cover ordered from Amazon to arrive tomorrow but it may not fit so plan B is needed. Extra shows the final repair which is the top of a rubber / eraser from a pencil pushed onto about 3mm of sturdy tubing from a cotton bud thingy!  The earlier grey button is actually a part that was 3D printed for me as a quick fix. I suspect I'll get a couple of weeks with this working but I now need to dig out the spare keys and check they are working. Arrggghhhhhh . . .

Had a couple of ultrasounds at a hospital in Gloucester today. Found out a little bit of information from those doing the procedure but I’m being referred on for a second opinion and have been told not to worry but that I may need an operation to remove something that shouldn’t be there. Quite a few technical terms were used today and I had to keep checking my understanding of what was being said incase I got the wrong end of the stick.
