Church Attendance On The Islands

OK! I confess this photo was taken on Tuesday in Stornaway.
It is of a Church Elder helping with the children’s Summer School events.

On our travels we had noticed how many churches were functioning and also how well they were kept. Quite different from the mainland.

Introducing myself as an ‘Elder Emeritus’ I wondered about this. The answer is straightforward. 20% of congregations regularly attend worship compared with 2% on the mainland.

I did admire his outfit.
