Godstow Lock

We had a very slow morning, which was nice.  I used the opportunity to get into my new book – my fifth of the holiday.  BB appeared long before lunchtime which was a miracle. TT and DB were reading the paper and catching up.  There was lots of music and sports chat.   Late morning we headed out for a walk to Wolvercote, Godstow and Port meadow.  It was lovely until the rain came on.  We sheltered under some trees, which kept us pretty dry until the rain eased off and the sun re-appeared.  As we were a bit damp, we decided to wander back home as we were thinking of the long drive in front of us.

DB fed and watered us when we got back, and we then packed up and got ourselves organised for the drive.  We left Oxford around 4pm and got home after 11pm.  The journey was long, but quite uneventful.  There were a couple of horrendously heavy rain showers, but the weather was generally good to us, which was a relief after yesterday’s drive.  We stopped off at a service station to stretch our legs and to get some sustenance.

It felt cool when we got home.  We quickly unpacked the car. But the sorting out will have to wait until tomorrow.  We’ve had a lovely couple of weeks away, which as ever has passed far too quickly.  I have a lot of back blipping to catch up with (just as I had caught up!)

This is Godstow Lock on the Thames at Oxford, with DB, TT , a rare sighting of BB and Cassie the dog, just before the rain.  The almost teen didn’t want to walk! He was very weary after his late night, and I think he went back to bed.  Just as we walked past the lock, a kingfisher flew upstream - a lovely surprise.
