Local infrastructure

This local spot always fascinates me ...

... I've taken this photo standing on the Union Canal towpath, facing North West, looking over towards Corstorphine Hill - the location should be pinned here. The canal is behind me ;-)

The pictured freight train is traveling (away from me) along a section of the South Suburban Railway, having just passed underneath the +200-year old canal, and also under Colinton Road before that, all via a very sizeable cutting, which runs alongside the Myreside playing-fields - quite a feat of infrastructure engineering!
