Bike Ride: 40K
The race is called Tri Santa Cruz, an Olympic distance triathalon: swim, bike, run. It’s held at the wharf, on our local walking path, and on the adjacent streets, essentially creating a lot of confusion but somehow managing to provide safe and memorable courses for hundreds of athletes. It took us by surprise when we went for our morning walk, but we were early enough to have a peaceful jaunt before the action got pretty intense. It was fun to watch the bikers come around the corner—some seemed to be taking it very seriously, while others looked like they were just there for a good time.
The Extra is a distance shot in the fog of the swimmers. They look like a bunch of seals splashing in the water as they turn around the bright yellow buoy.
