The weather forecast was for a damp morning and wet afternoon. There were a few light showers early but as the day progressed it got brighter.

By lunchtime I’d only been to the local shops and cleaned the hob and kitchen sink. I knew I had to get out or I’d spend the afternoon on the sofa with my iPad and the tv control.

I can’t remember when I was last in Hawkshead. The main road goes around the village and parking is expensive. I decided to get the bus and assess it’s potential for photos and future visits.

I also walked along some of the footpaths leading out from the centre and covered almost 4 miles.

As you can see from the photo, Hawkshead now has a Grasmere Gingerbread shop and with no queue!
