Bees Are Good
At the Community Garden on the Prom.
Late on watched United on the telly - first game of the season, and a silver lining of relegation - live Championship games on a Friday night. United seemed a completely different team from the Spartans debacle and turned what could have been a tricky opening fixture into an evening stroll - four goals before half-time. They didn't add to the tally in the second half although they kept creating chances, hit the post and brought on several of the youngsters. A good omen for the season? Last time United got promoted they started with a 4-1 win on the opening day. And I just read that it is forty years since they started the season with a 4-0 win - opening game of the 1983-84 season when the league championship flag was unfurled at Tannadice and Motherwell were well beaten. I was at that game, a long time ago, back when it felt possible that teams other than the Old Firm might win the league.
