Sweet
Out and about in Denny this afternoon doing a recce for a Ramblers walk I'm due to lead at the end of the month. Our proposed route will take us past this chestnut tree. It is known locally as the Spanish Chestnut Tree, but is actually a sweet chestnut. It has a girth of about 8 metres and, while a nearby information board states that it is over 450 years old, other reports suggest that it is more likely to be between 300 and 400 years old.
Either way, it's still an impressive local landmark.
