The original and best trailing log(to measure distance and speed at sea) Redundant now with GPS and inboard paddlewheel logs but a thing of artistry. The "project" even has a fitting already there for mounting on the toerail. Love it but know that realistically will be used once or twice a season, just like the spinnaker. Other cruising sailors will understand.
