Curled Pondweed

After yesterday's fenland survey an hour spent sorting specimens from a superficially unprepossessing fen ditch revealed its hidden treasures - beautiful Curled Pondweed and Horned Pondweed nestling among tangles of less photogenic Lesser Pondweed and Common Stonewort.


This afternoon, as I went into the garden, a Honey Bee managed to get itself stuck in my sandal and stung one of my toes. I've been stung by quite a few species over the years but this was by far the most painful one ever - excruciating! Pete checked the sting was out and after application of ice to reduce the swelling, plus an antihistamine tablet, my foot's more or less recovered :)
