Black faced impala, Etosha

Early morning reflections of black faced impalas at the water hole.

I was up early this morning and at the water hole before sunrise. Initially it was very quiet but as the sun came onto the water lots of birds started to appear and it was amazing to see so many different species. It wasn’t long before a herd of black faced impala appeared, a few springbok and a zebra. We then set off for our last self drive safari in Etosha, taking a couple of hours to get to the south gate. Within five minutes we had spotted a black backed jackal, zebras, oryx, impala, blue wilderbeast and some giraffes. At one of the water holes we saw four hyaenas, great to see as we’d only previously seen them in the dark. See extra.

It was then a four and a half hour drive to Windhoek where we are spending the night before flying home tomorrow.

I’ve backblipped the last few days with the cheetahs and lions now that we have wifi again.
