Survivor...
Nature never ceases to amaze me...
I travelled to Sheffield this morning to collect Chris from Uni for the last time - I can't believe that four years have flown by so fast. While I was waiting for him to load the car I spotted this beautiful Welsh Poppy Meconopsis cambrica, growing at the base of a lamp-post.
When I looked harder I spotted at least eight species of plants growing on walls or in the pavement nearby, apparently inhospitable places devoid of any soil. These plants are true survivors and brighten up the harsh urban environment. I'm glad they've been spared the herbicide which seems to be used rather too lavishly in Peterborough, despite our status as an Environment City!
