Blipmeet at Beadnell
While Mr C got some food shopping in Lidl I went to see Val in the hospital. She’s been in 2 months, bed-blocking, till carers can be put in place now she needs a hoist to transfer. To get carers allocated she has to be at home to be assessed. But she can’t go home till there are carers. The hoops she has to go through - in Scotland such care is free. Here it is £40 per hour. She needs 2 carers 4 times a day. There are no carers to be found in any case. She is unfailingly cheerful.
We drove on up to Beadnell where we joined Ann and Ivan for a delicious afternoon tea and a Blipmeet. We’d not seen each other since before Covid so it was lovely to have a catch-up. Their holiday house was in a prime location with direct access to the beach. The tide was high, crashing onto the steps - it would be equally fabulous in winter.
We bartered some courgettes for Aubergines with Phil and Carol who shop at a wholesale place in town. The quality is excellent. But I can’t think of cooking them as I’m full of afternoon tea - I was a piglet with the fruit scones, eaten the Cornish way. Thank you Blairs!
The blip was courtesy of Steph, taken in their garden above the beach.
