Red Squirrel

Today's the day ...................... to walk in the woods

While Will was taking part in his first Graveyard Talk (!) this afternoon, I had a lovely walk with Dominic in Barrhill Woods, just up the road.

He's a keen naturalist, of course, so it wasn't long before he was spotting birds, finding frogs and generally noticing creatures of all kinds that I would have missed if he hadn't been there with his keen eyesight.  The highlight would have to be this little red squirrel that was so intent on extracting peanuts from the feeder - and eating them - that he didn't seem to mind us being there at all.

Eventually, when he'd eaten his fill, he gave us a waggle of that long red tail - and disappeared off through the trees.  What a treat .....................!
