Bjuröklubb with Claire and family
Bjuröklubb is a headland, almost an island, a bit to the south of Skellefteå. It used to be an important area for fishing boats and seal hunters but the numbers of fish (and seals) has sunk so drastically that there are very few boats left.
Later it became "famous" as one of the points mentioned on the Swedish shipping forecast, probably because there is a lighthouse here so it was easy to get a weather report from here.
Now it is tourists who come here, and having been one of them I can recommend it to other potential tourists. There are good walkways to the main viewing points, a lot of information notices, and an excellent cafe! Should you be here in the right season (we were) and in the right weather (not so lucky there) there are some lovely sandy beaches, with long stretches of shallow water. When we were here it was very windy (17m/sec) as you can perhaps see in the photo, where you can also see Claire, Rusty, Louise (Claire's daughter), and Elias (C's grandson).
The extra is taken at the SE corner of the headland, where you can walk several hundred meters along a narrow strip of gravel with the waves coming in from both sides.
