Monk's-Hood

Many years ago I read The Brother Cadfael story 'Monk's-Hood' written by Ellis Peters. After reading the story I knew that the plant was poisonous but I had no idea what it looked like .... now I know.

Monk's-Hood also known as Wolfsbane is a striking plant with tall spires of purple-blue flowers. Its nectar and pollen rich flowers are popular with bumblebees.
