Out of the bay

I spent all day in my office in Oban where the sun wasn't quite shining although it was very warm.

This is the view from Pulpit hill looking out of the bay. On the near left is Isle of Kerrera and on the right the esplanade and Dunollie castle which I hear is worth a visit since it's been done up. I don't know what the little island in the middle is called but beyond that is the Isle of Lismore.

The far view shows the mountains of Morvern and if you look carefully you can see two grey splurges, you may need to look large, this is Glensanda quarry where I often work and where I am heading again at the end of this week. The top grey bit is called the primary area where they blast and quarry the rock. It then gets tipped down the "glory hole" and out on conveyors to be sorted and loaded onto ships in the secondary area at the bottom.

I hope to be able to blip you some machinery on Friday as I will be working in the primary area. The biggest dumpers in the world are found here, each one carries 97t of rock per trip.
