The sad story behind the collins clock

The clock on the library
In 1971, whilst going on holiday to Salzburg, Austria, the whole collins family was killed in a plane crash. The tail section fell off the BEA Vanguard aircraft, causing it to plunge to the ground, killing 63 passengers and crew. There was a public collection and a clock was erected outside Hipperholme Public Library in memory of the family
