Stourbridge

Leg 2 of our mini adventure was completed today with a 4.5 hour, with one wee stop for dad, drive to Stourbridge, Birmingham.

A lot of traffic and rain on the M5 towards Bristol but after that it was better.  We arrived at our hotel, a Premier Inn, half hour before check in. I asked if we could check in and was told it cost £10 to check in early.  We sat in the car for half hour.

A couple of hours rest and then we ventured into Stourbridge.  I imagine it was a lovely market town once upon a time but it looked a bit dishevelled as we walked around and very few restaurants to choose from.  An Indian was had and enjoyed.  Back to the hotel and hoping mum and dad sleep ok as they look shattered.

In other news, Mr C and Sim, driving separately, are having a nightmare of a journey north.  For Mr C the M1 was closed and he was diverted here, there and everywhere arriving around 8 hours after leaving home.  He had Ruby in the car too.  For poor Sim, he was driving separately to Nat as they need to take lots of stuff up and she went up early in the morning and Sim has Oscar with him.  A couple of weeks ago something went wrong with his car so he decided to hire one and when he collected it today it was an electric car.  His journey has been incredibly fraught with trying to find chargers that are not broken and he’s still not arrived yet.  But , of course, this Nanna is thinking about poor Oscar who won’t know what’s going on and hopefully isn’t annoying his poor dad too much.  This also shows the infrastructure for electric cars is nowhere near what it should be and certainly have put off our family from getting one.  Let’s hope he is near the end of their journey as I’m writing this.

Im looking at another 4+ hour drive tomorrow depending on weather and traffic for our final destination.
