Bishop's Palace

This afternoon the visiting blipper and I went into Kirkwall to do a bit of exploring. Crossing the road from the cathedral to the Earl's Palace there was a string of school children variously dressed as Vikings, lords and peasants and being led by a lad dressed as a bishop. History really does come to life up here!

The building behind them is the Bishop's Palace. Visitors so often go to see the cathedral and don't bother going round the corner to explore these amazing and fascinating ruins. Well worth a look if you are ever up in these parts!
