We (Ponteland High School) are fundraising for a nursery school to be constructed for the children in the village as the closest primary school is a 5 mile walk over open plains, which is obviously too much for young children to do. We held some sessions with the children which was certainly an eye opener and also a humbling experience. We are very lucky to get the education that we do. However, saying this, the children seemed so happy with what they had - I wish the same could be said about society here. I've now realised that I should never be ungrateful for what I have, because there are people with so much less that are much happier with life.
This is the only point of the trips where we all felt plagued by flies, there were everywhere and it's quite frustrating in the heat we experienced there to have to keep batting them away and not be able to relax. It was so sad to see the young children not bothering to bat away the flies and just having flies around their eyes and mouths.
I have made a photobook, which is viewable in PDF format but also ebook for free, that you can have a look at in order to see more of my photos accompanied by text if that interests any of you!
