A Fine Pair of Antennae
A male red-brown longhorn beetle, spotted feeding on yarrow during a walk in King's Forest today. The larvae feed on dead wood of various types of conifer, & there are plenty of conifers in Thetford Forest! (The image is actually a composite of two, aligned & combined in Photoshop to include greater detail of the elytra & nearest legs).
Greater biodiversity (compared with the plantations) can be found along the edges of the more open rides - the wild flowers are amazing on the sandy soil at the moment, but I gave up trying to photograph them dancing around in the wind!! I did "sort of" manage a large group of harebells, & a closer shot, in a more sheltered spot, so have included those as extras.
