Helenium ….

…. but I really prefer the flower’s common name ‘Sneezeweed’.

The name is based on the former use of its dried leaves in making snuff, inhaled to cause sneezing that would supposedly rid the body of evil spirits.

The petals look a bit glossy because they are wet …. it was raining this morning and judging by the puddles it had been quite wet during the night.
