Derelict back yard

This photo was taken through a hurricane wire fence on a stroll down a nearby back lane. It is an unusual sight, as more and more houses around here have been renovated or soon will be. Not this one. It even looks like it has an outside toilet. 

I've chosen to make the thumbnail focus on the Hills Hoist, a height adjustable rototary clothes line, looking proud amongst the dross. The Hills Hoist is an Australian invention dating from 1945 and I have a later model in a corner of my back yard. I'm pleased that the Resident Gardener's plantings ensure that our natural clothes dryer is not visible from the house.
