Wonderful walk to meet the babies
I've been training by walking along the river lark since last year in preparation of the moonwalk which I took part in a few weeks back now. What I didn't bank on was meeting a lovely pair of swans and over the months I watch and chatted to them as I went by. Until they nested and laid eggs, I enjoyed my walks as I spoke to them every time and the father I'm assuming, as I'm not sure would wag his tail when he saw me. As the weather slightly improved I was able to sketch them both and tell them about my friend Lucia who would love to see them as she is a very keen and good a taking blips.
Well I was so surprised as our first visit the mummy swan stood up and showed us what I thought was 5 eggs. As the weeks went on the babies eventually hatched and today we came across the family swimming up the lark. Happy to see them with three babies Lucia and me snapped away and eventually they swam back to there nest. Where 3 other eggs still lay unhatched on the nest. I was in awe of the swans as they moved towards the nest showing dedication and love to their babies. they moved through the long green rushes so to help the babies get onto the bank.
Lucia and i continued Snapping away, although mummy made it clear we were to close so we stepped back. Happy with us both mummy and daddy started to clean themselves as babies settled and snuggle up onto the nest. The hardest part of today's was which blip to post, so many wonderful ones showing them swimming but I think this one was my favourite as it seems to show communication between them both, I wonder what they are saying! When will those two crazy women leave mummy! X
