Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2023 Friday — Field Trip to Cambria

After the long trip of yesterday from SoCal to California’s Central Coast, staying home all day today would have seemed apropos. However, Cambria, 12 miles to the north, was the bulls-eye on our target.

We both wanted to stop in at the Cambria Nursery to purchase a couple more poppy plants. We honestly do not know if they will have the growing season that our last crop had (end of April to mid-July), but we won’t know if we do not try. The nursery worker did tell us the poppies would do well. I enjoy the nursery fountains as well.

We stopped at “Re•create” thrift store. I looked thoroughly through each area. I enjoy looking at kitchen items, sewing material, thread, buttons, etc., clothing, shoes, and many other items. I purchased three items of clothing: a shirt for Mr. Fun, a lace blouse I plan to use for crafting; and a beautiful linen colorful pastel shirt for me.

Then we took the pups for a walk at Shammel Park, which sits just behind the shore and is a lovely place. A public pool is in the park.

A quick stop at Gigi’s thrift store to lookey and then on to our discovery of the day.

We have seen the Harmony Cafe in Cambria many times; today we walked in to, quite to our surprise, discover some of the most delicious food we have ever eaten. The farfalle pasta with basil pesto was delicious. The aroma was intoxicating. The chef/owner told Mr. Fun he used fresh basil. The waitress told us that he spirals zucchini and mixes that in. We ate it and then talked about it for hours. We re-named this day “Farfalle Friday.”

We stopped at the Cambria Farmers Market to get two mini-sized Olallieberry pies. I warm one and divide it with Mr. Fun. It creates yummy morning pastry or luscious evening dessert.

Then we made a quick stop at the grocery store in Cambria, and then headed south for Cayucos past the windmill and further on the house at Adam’s Point in north Cayucos.

This has been a very very fun day. My photo collage displays a little of the many things we had the fun of seeing today.

Good night from Cayucos
in California’s Central Coast,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!’
