Flute masterclass
The festival today started early with a 10am flute masterclass. This is the wonderful Adam Walker who was the tutor. He is a brilliant flautist and also a fabulous teacher.
There were three students who played for us. Each one played her piece and then Adam went through and made suggestions for improvement. He was positive, supportive and we could hear the changes they made.
It was a long sit for 2 hours on a hard pew. It was also quite chilly.
There were concerts this afternoon and evening. Again, an abundance of music. The festival always includes new pieces as well as old chamber favourites.
I was very taken with a trio for flute, clarinet and bassoon, Rubispheres by Valerie Coleman. Modern but not inaccessible and played superbly.
My extra is the formal photo of the young flautists with Adam and with Ben Frith on piano. He is a very sensitive accompanist.
It's time for bed again. If you have time, I did back blip yesterday.
