DOG DAYS OF SUMMER
The days between July 3 to August 11th,
are often the hottest & unbearable days of the Summer, in many parts of the world.
Where I live, in Southern California, those
blistering hot days last much longer.
The Romans called this period
“dies caniculares,” or
“day of the Dog Star.,” because Sirius
would appear in the night sky, around this time. It was eventually shortened to
THE DOG DAYS.
In Latin or English, THE DOG DAYS
are a good time to find some shade.
