Encanto
This afternoon I spent a bit of time with #3 daughter before we all went to see the children in Encanto. They all were at a holiday club called ChimneySweep for the week and the finished production was really good. Lots of singing and dancing.
Nathaniel had the best boy part Bruno which he’s played before. Unfortunately we were at the back of the hall so none of us could hear well, but he was very expressive so it was good. Thomas was at the back for the singing and dancing. He said he enjoyed it but he didn’t look relaxed. (When he’s an adult he’d do dad-dancing!) I was impressed though as he wasn’t in his comfort zone like in the rugby pitch but tried hard. Ella had centre stage for a couple of dances and did her speaking part well too. The younger ones were able to keep an eye on her and copy. She was elegant and graceful.
The revelation was James - he had lines, played his part well and excelled with his rhythm and movement in the dancing and the important thing was he must have really listened and concentrated as he knew every move and was relaxed and happy. On the way back he said “I could get obsessed with this” - good use of language for an 8 year old with a complex form of dyslexia.
I’m impressed with them all for working so hard and enjoying it.
