‘My Favourite Avenue’

This magnificent avenue of limes in Inverleith Park looked particularly splendid when I went down it on my jog this morning. 

This was the scene just after 8 am,  following heavy rain and during a slight clearance in the weather, when the park was still relatively empty.  Always arresting and slightly mysterious, the earlier rain gives the scene an extra special quality.

I thought I was lucky to have avoided it, but just half an hour later, walking back to the house with a bag full of shopping, the heavens opened again, and both I and the shopping got well and truly soaked!
